App plans and subscriptions
Paid apps in the App Market are sold as plans set by the app's developer: monthly or yearly, usage-based, with a free trial, or private plans made for your store. You choose a plan on the app's page, and manage your subscription on its plans page.
Subscribing to app plans needs the staff permission for app subscriptions.
Read the plans
The plans card on the app's page lists every plan the app offers. When an app has both monthly and yearly plans, switch between Monthly price and Annual price; the yearly tab shows how much you save, such as Save 20%.

Each plan card shows:
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name | The plan's name, Private plan for a plan made for your store, or Usage based plan. |
| Price | The price and billing period, such as Monthly, Annually or a number of Months, or Free. A discount shows the old price crossed out. |
| Usage tag | For usage-based plans, what you pay for: calls, emails, messages or orders. |
| One-time fee | A fee charged once, shown as the amount followed by one time only fee. |
| Features | The plan's description and features. |
| Button | Select followed by the plan name, Upgrade to followed by the plan name, or Selected for your current plan. |
| Free trial | The number of free trial days, when the plan has a trial you haven't used. |
Your current plan is highlighted.
Subscribe to a plan
On the app's page, click Subscribe at the top to jump to the plans, or scroll to them.
Click Select followed by the plan name on the plan you want.
Review the data the app can access in the dialog that opens.
Click Activate application for a free plan or a plan with a free trial you haven't used, or Continue to payment for a paid plan.
Pay on the checkout page. You then return to the app's page.
If the app needs more setup, its setup page opens in a new tab.
Upgrade your plan
On the app's page, click Upgrade plan at the top, or Manage in the Subscription card. The plans page opens.
Click Upgrade to followed by the plan name, and complete the steps as for a new subscription.
You can't switch to a lower plan. When a plan isn't available to you, its button is disabled and its tooltip explains why.
Your current subscription
Once you subscribe, the app's page shows a Subscription card with your Subscription plan and the date it's Valid until. Click Manage to open the plans page.
When your plan is paused, a banner tells you when it resumes automatically and how many days remain.
For paid plans, the card reminds you that you can manage auto-renewal on the Billing page. You can also switch it on the app's card in My apps.
Request a private plan
When the standard plans don't fit your business, some developers can build a plan for your sales volume, features and goals.
On the app's page, click Request private plan in the Subscription card, or Contact Partner in the Request private plan banner above the plans.
In Request a private plan, describe your needs in Write your specific needs for the application, up to 600 characters.

Sample data from a demo store. Click Send request. The message Private plan request sent successfully confirms it.
These options appear only on apps whose developer accepts private plan requests. You can send one request per app, so they disappear once you have sent it or already have a private plan. When the developer accepts your request, you're notified in your dashboard. Your plan then appears in the app's plans list as Private plan, and you subscribe to it like any other plan.
Pay a pending charge
Usage-based plans and some subscriptions can leave a charge to pay.
The app's page shows a Pending charge alert. Click Go to checkout to pay it.
For a usage-based plan, the plan card shows the amount due and a Pay button.
You can't deactivate an app until you pay the pending charge on its active subscription.
