Push notifications

Push notifications reach the customers who installed your store's app and allowed notifications, right on their phone's lock screen. Use them to announce offers, new products or collections. You send them from Channels > Mobile app > Create notification.

Sending notifications needs both the mobile app permission and the permission to manage notifications. Your store must have an active mobile app. Notifications that open a product or a category also need SSL to be active on your store; otherwise the dashboard shows You need to activate SSL first.

Send a push notification

  1. Go to Channels > Mobile app.

  2. Click Create notification at the top of the page.

  3. In the Send notifications card, fill in:

    • Main title: the bold first line of the notification.

    • Sub title: a second line. iPhones show it under the title; Android phones don't.

    • Message: the body text.

  4. Under When you click the notification redirect to, choose where the notification opens:

    • Home: your app's home page.

    • Products: click Add product, pick one published product and click Save. To pick another one, click Change product, or Remove in the product row.

    • Categories: click Add category, pick one category and click Save. To pick another one, click Change category, or Remove in the category row.

  5. Check the Notification preview card.

  6. Click Send at the top of the page.

The notification goes out immediately to everyone subscribed to your app's notifications, and the dashboard confirms with Sent successfully. You can't schedule a notification or recall one after sending it.

FieldRules
Main titleRequired. Use the emoji button in the field to add emojis.
Sub titleRequired.
MessageRequired. Multi-line, with an emoji button.

Keep the title short and the message to two lines. The preview cuts longer titles with an ellipsis and shows only the first two lines of the message, as phones do.

Preview the notification

The Notification preview card shows the notification on a phone screen as you type. Switch between the iOS and Android tabs to see both styles. The notification carries your app's name as set in the app download banner.

Track sent notifications

The Sent Notifications table below the form lists the notifications you sent, 10 per page. The system keeps notifications for up to 30 days.

When you haven't sent any notification in the last 30 days, the table shows No notifications to display.
