Storefront filters

Filters help customers reach the products they want quickly, for example by color, size or material. They appear beside the product list in your store, and customers pick the values they want to narrow the list. You create them in Products > Filters, then tag each product with the filter values that describe it.

Each filter has a name, such as "Color", and a list of values, such as "Red", "Blue" and "Black". A value can be plain text, a color swatch or a small image.

Filters depend on your plan, and staff members need the permission to manage filter settings. Turning filters on or off in your store needs the permission to manage order and product settings. Charity (NGO) stores don't see Filters in the sidebar.

Show filters in your store

When filters are turned off for your store, the page shows a Show filters in store card instead of the list.

  1. Go to Products > Filters.

  2. Select Enable. The message Filters are now visible in your store confirms the change.

To hide all filters from your store again, select Disable at the top of the page. Your filters are kept, and you can enable them later.

The filters list

When filters are turned on, the page lists your filters. Type in Search to find one by name.

  3. In Filter values, fill in the first value:

    • Option value name: the value's name in at least one language.

    • Filtration type: choose None for a text value, Color to show a color swatch, or Image to show a small picture.

    • For Color, pick the shade you want with Select Color.

  4. Select Add new option value for each extra value. Drag values to reorder them, or select Remove to delete one (a filter keeps at least one value).

  5. Select Save.

Edit or delete a filter

Select the filter's name or Edit to open Edit filter. On this page, the name and each value are saved separately:

  • Change the Filter name and select Save at the top of the page. This button saves only the name.

  • Change an existing value and select the Save button inside that value. Select Delete inside a value to remove it.

  • Select Add new option value, fill in the new value and select Add. The value is created straight away.

  • Drag values to reorder them. The new order is saved straight away.

To delete the whole filter, select Delete at the top of the edit page, or Delete on its row in the list, and confirm.

Tag products with filter values

Filters only narrow down results when your products carry their values.

  1. Open a product from Products > All products.

  2. Expand Advanced information.

  3. In Filters, choose one or more of the values you created. Each one appears as the filter name and value, such as "Color: Red".

The Filters list on the product page open, showing a value in the form filter name: value

Your choices are saved as soon as you pick or remove them; you don't need to select Save product. You can also update product filters in bulk with an import file. See Import and export products.
