Product details

The product page holds everything about one product: its name, prices, images, stock, descriptions, search engine settings and visibility. It opens when you create a product or select one in Products > All products. This guide goes through every section and field, in the order they appear.

How the page is laid out

  • The heading shows the product's name, a back arrow, Delete (on saved products) and Save product.

  • The main column holds, from top to bottom: Basic information, Quantities and inventory, Advanced information, Product options, Product customization, SEO & Visibility and Custom fields. Some product types add their own card, such as Digital files or Vouchers.

  • The sidebar holds the Product Preview with the image label, Show product with your sales channels, and Additional details with shipping, tax, discount and similar products.

On a phone, the sidebar sections appear after Basic information, and the eye icon in the heading opens the preview.

Viewing a product needs the staff permission to view products or to edit and delete them. Saving changes needs the permission to edit and delete products (or to create products, while the product is new).

Save your changes

Most changes are kept on the page until you select Save product. The button is enabled when you have unsaved changes and the product has a name. If a field has an error, the page scrolls to it.

Some actions are saved as soon as you make them, without Save product:

Saved straight awaySaved with Save product
Uploading, deleting, cropping and reordering images, alt text and the YouTube linkName, prices, cost, SKU, weight and barcode
Adding or removing categories (on a saved product) and choosing a brandDescriptions, minimum and maximum quantity per order
Choosing filter valuesDiscount, sale price and discount schedule
Creating a new image labelShipping and tax switches
Adjust quantity, Add new inventory and Delete stock (on a saved product)SEO title, description, link and keywords
Choosing and removing similar productsChoosing an image label, visibility and markets

If you try to leave with unsaved changes, the dashboard asks You have unsaved changes - leave anyway?. Select Continue editing to stay, or Leave without saving.

Basic information

Basic information holds the product's images and video, its name, prices, SKU, weight, categories and brand.

Product images

At the top of Basic information, Product images holds the product's photos and video.

  • Add images: select Browse or drag images into the box. PNG, JPEG, JPG, GIF or WebP files up to 5 MB each. You can add several at once. When you add a single image, Image editor opens so you can crop it: select Apply crop, or Use original to keep it as it is.

  • Main image: the first image, marked Main, is the one customers see first. Select the star on another image to make it the main image.

  • Crop an existing image with its crop icon, or delete it with its delete icon.

  • Alt text: select an image to open Alternate text and describe it in Arabic description and English description. The description appears if the image can't load and helps search engines.

  • Reorder: select Arrange to open Reorder images and drag images and the video into order.

  • Video: select Or add a YouTube link, paste the full link in Add a product video to product visuals and select Add. Links in the form youtube.com/watch?v=... or youtu.be/... are accepted.

Images are uploaded and saved as soon as you add them. Square images of about 1000 × 1000 pixels display well in most themes, and giving every image the same size keeps your product cards even.

Quantities and inventory

Quantities and inventory sets how many units you have at each inventory location. Select Inventory addresses to manage your locations. See Inventory.

When the product is stocked at several locations, each order takes its units from the locations in your withdrawal priority order. See Withdrawal priority.

While the product is new

Each row has an Inventory list, an Available quantity box and an Unlimited quantity switch. Delete extra rows with their delete icon. Rows are saved with Save product.

On a saved product

  • Type a new number in Available quantity. The change shows as the old value crossed out and the new one next to it, and is saved with Save product.

  • Select the arrow next to the quantity (Adjust quantity) to adjust it with a reason. The change is saved as soon as you select Save in the box:

  • Add new inventory opens a dialog where you add locations with their quantities, then Save.

For a product with variants, the card only says that quantities come from the variants; set them in the variants table. See Product options and variants.

Quantities and inventory doesn't appear for grouped products, digital files, vouchers, dynamic bundles or in charity stores. Those product types manage availability in their own cards.

Search engines need time to visit your store and update their results, so improvements from a new product or a changed title or description usually take at least three months to show. Keep the title short and specific, within about 70 characters: search results cut longer titles off and end them with an ellipsis (…), even though the field accepts more.

If you leave the page title and description empty, search engines use the product's name and description. To choose keywords, look up the words customers search for with a keyword research tool, such as Ubersuggest, Google Keyword Planner, Google Trends or Semrush, and use them in the product name, page title and description.

SEO settings depend on your plan. If your plan doesn't include them, the section shows an upgrade message instead of the fields.

Custom fields

Custom fields shows the product custom fields you defined, such as a production date or a size chart. Fill them in and select Save product. To change the fields themselves, their type, content or choices, select Custom fields settings in the section. See Custom fields.
