Digital products and vouchers
Zid has two product types for things you don't ship: Digital files, for downloads such as e-books, courses and designs, and Voucher, for codes such as subscriptions, prepaid top-up cards or discount codes. Both are created like any other product and share the product page's other sections. See Add a product.
Both product types depend on your plan: they're available on the Rise plan and above. Digital files and vouchers don't have weight, a barcode, shipping or the Quantities and inventory card.
Digital files
A digital files product has a Digital files card on its page, where you attach the files customers receive and set download limits. You sell them without storing or shipping anything.
To create one, select Digital files in Create new product.

Attach files
Open the product and, in Digital files, select Add digital file.

Sample data from a demo store. In the upload dialog, choose where the files come from:
Upload from device: choose one or more files of any type, or drag them into the box. The size limit depends on your plan, and is at least 2 MB. Tick Save to file library to keep the files for other products.

Sample data from a demo store. File library: pick files you saved before, so you don't upload them again. Select Upload on a file to attach it, or delete it from the library.

Sample data from a demo store. Upload from URL: enter the link in Add URL and a name in URL title. Both are required.

Select Add.
Attached files are listed with their name and size. Use Replace to swap a file, or delete it. Adding, replacing and deleting files takes effect straight away, without Save product.
How many files you can attach to a product depends on your plan: 5 on the Lite plan, 10 on Growth, 15 on Professional and 20 on Enterprise.
Limit downloads
Under Manage attached files:

| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Download attempts per customer | How many times each customer can download the files, at least 1. Tick Unlimited download for no limit. |
| Set download expiration | How long the download link works after purchase, at least 1 Hour or Day. Tick Unlimited for no limit. |
These settings are saved with Save product.
Vouchers
A voucher product has a Vouchers card where you add the codes customers receive when they buy. Each voucher code can carry an optional PIN, serial number and expiry date.
To create one, select Voucher in Create new product.

You can manage vouchers for the whole product, or per variant if the voucher comes in options (for example, different values). The two can't be mixed: once a product has vouchers of its own, you can't add options, and once it has options, vouchers are managed per variant.
Add vouchers
Open the product and expand Vouchers.

Personal details are covered. Select Add new voucher. A new row appears in the table.
Fill in the row:
Column Rules Code Required. The code the customer uses. Status Available (default), Sold, Reserved or Returned. Expiry date Optional. Pin code Optional. Serial number Optional. Repeat for each code, then select Save added vouchers. The button shows how many vouchers you're adding.

Vouchers are saved with Save added vouchers, not with Save product. Deleting a saved voucher takes effect straight away.
Import vouchers from a file
In the Vouchers card, select Import.
In Export & import, select Download example to get the template, and fill in your codes.

Sample data from a demo store. Under Import files, upload the file: XLS, XLSX or CSV, up to about 2 MB.
Confirm the import. Imported and saved successfully confirms it.
The template has one row per voucher, with a column for each voucher field:
| Column | How to fill it in |
|---|---|
Code (key) | Required. The code the customer receives to activate the product. |
PIN code (pin_code) | Optional. A second code, for products that ask for a PIN along with the code. |
Status (status) | Required. Write AVAILABLE for codes ready to sell. The other statuses are SOLD, RESERVED and RETURNED. |
Serial number (serial_number) | Optional. Your own reference for the voucher, like a SKU. |
Expiry date (expires_at) | Optional. The date the code stops working, if it has one, in the same format as the template's example. |

Vouchers per variant
In the empty Vouchers card, select Add multiple options.
Add options and values as for any product. See Product options and variants.
Save the product. The variants table shows each variant's Vouchers count.
Select Manage vouchers on a variant to open its vouchers, add its codes the same way and select Save.
Manage vouchers is disabled for variants you haven't saved yet.
Orders for digital files and vouchers
A few things work differently in orders for digital files and vouchers:
They don't need shipping. To have these orders move to Completed as soon as they're paid, turn on Automatically change paid new orders status to "completed" in Settings > General > Orders and products properties. While it's on, you can't change the status of paid orders that don't need shipping yourself. See Order and product properties.
On the order's page, a voucher product has the Digital product label, and the voucher codes sold to the customer are listed under it. Use them to check which code a customer received. See Order details.
Digital files and vouchers aren't part of quantity returns. See Returns and refunds.
How customers get their files and codes
Customers get their digital files and voucher codes once the order is Completed. Voucher codes reach the customer by email or text message, and the customer also finds them in the order's details in their account on your store.
Mark the order Completed after the customer pays, or turn on the automatic setting above so paid orders complete on their own.
When the customer pays by bank transfer, check that the money arrived and confirm the transfer first. See Confirm a bank transfer.
If you accept payments with Zid Payments, keep proof that each file or code reached the customer. See Keep proof of delivery for digital products.
To find a code again, the customer uses their account on your store:
They sign in and open the orders list in their account.

Personal details are covered. They select the order. The voucher code appears under the product, with an icon to copy it.
