Product options and variants
Options describe the ways a product varies, such as Size or Color, and each option has values, such as Small, Medium and Large. Every combination of values becomes a variant, for example "T-shirt - Red - Large", with its own price, stock, SKU and images. Customers pick the values on the product page.
You keep your options in Products > Options library and reuse them across products, then add them to a product in its Product options section.
Options are available for single products, and for vouchers inside the Vouchers card. Creating and editing options needs the staff permission to edit and delete products. Charity (NGO) stores don't have options.
The options library
Products > Options library lists every option in your store.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Option name | The option's name. Select it to edit the option. |
| Presets count | How many values the option has. |
| Actions | Delete and Edit. |
Type in Search to find an option by name.

Create an option
Go to Products > Options library and select Create.
In Option name, enter the name in Arabic, English or both. At least one language is required.
Choose the Option type:
Text: values are shown as text, such as sizes.
Color: each value has a color swatch. Select the swatch to pick the color; the color picker also lets you enter a color code.
Image: each value has a small picture, such as a fabric pattern.

Sample data from a demo store. In Option values, fill in the first value (Option value, in at least one language) and its color or image. Select Add new option value for each extra value.
Select Create.
Images for values can be PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP or SVG files up to 2 MB. A 64 × 64 pixel PNG works best. Changing the option type clears the colors and images you set.
Edit or delete an option
Select an option's name or Edit. On the edit page:

Change the name and select Save at the top of the page. This button saves only the name.
Change a value and select the Save button inside it, or Delete to remove it.
Select Add new option value, fill it in and select Add. The value is created straight away.
To delete the whole option, select Delete at the top of the edit page, or the delete icon on its row, and confirm.
An option and its values are shared by every product that uses them. Renaming an option or a value changes it on all those products.
Add options to a product
Open a single product and expand Product options.
Select Choose option.
In Option name, choose an option from your library. To make a new one, choose Create new option at the end of the list.

Sample data from a demo store. In Option values, tick the values the product comes in, or Select all. To add a value that isn't in the library yet, choose Create new value.
To add another option, such as color after size, select Choose another option and repeat. Remove a row with Remove row. You can't choose the same option twice.

Sample data from a demo store. Select Confirm. The variants are created and the variants table appears.
Fill in each variant's details in the table, then select Save product.
Change a product's options
Once a product has options, Product options shows a card for each option and these buttons:
Add new option creates a new option in your library and adds it to the product.
Select quick option opens Add new option, where you choose a library option and tick its values, then select Add. Values already on the product are ticked; unticking one removes it and its variants.
On each option card:
Select the option's name, or its pencil, to Edit option and rename it.
Select a value's pencil to Edit value and change its name, color or image.
Expand the card to add or remove values in Option values.
Select Delete to remove the option from the product. The variants are rebuilt without it.
Select Edit to open the option in the options library in a new tab.
Drag options or values by their handles to reorder them. The message Variant names and table order will update after you save. reminds you to save. Once you save, your store shows the options and values in the new order.
How variants are created
Each combination of the values you choose becomes a variant. A new variant starts with:
| Detail | Starting value |
|---|---|
| Name | The product name followed by its values, such as "T-shirt - Red - Large". |
| Price | The product's price. |
| Sale price | The product's sale price. |
| Quantity | The product's stock, or your default inventory location. |
| SKU | A code generated automatically. You can change it. |
| Cost, weight | Empty. |
While a product has variants, its own Selling price, Cost price, Product weight and quantities are disabled, with the note The price, quantity, cost, and weight are determined based on the product variants. Discounts are set per variant too.
Removing a value deletes the variants that contain it.
The variants table
The Variants table lists every variant, with the number of variants next to the title. Use Search to find variants by name, SKU, barcode or value, and the expand icon to open the table full screen. The table shows 10 variants per page by default.

| Column | What you set |
|---|---|
| Image | Select it to manage the variant's images. |
| Name | The variant's name. Read-only. |
| SKU code | The variant's SKU. Optional. |
| Price | Zero or more. |
| Sale price | Zero or more. Make sure it's lower than the price; the table doesn't check it for you. |
| Quantity | The total stock and the number of inventory locations. Select the pencil (Edit quantity) to change it. |
| Barcode | Optional. Up to 48 characters, using English letters, numbers and symbols only. |
| Product cost | Zero or more. |
| Weight | Zero or more, in the product's weight unit. |
For vouchers, the table shows Vouchers count and Manage vouchers instead of quantity, barcode and weight. See Digital products and vouchers.
Changes in the table are saved with Save product.
Edit a variant's quantities
Select the pencil in the Quantity column to open Quantities and inventory for that variant.
Each row is an inventory location with its Available quantity, or Unlimited quantity.
Select Adjust quantity on a row to choose an Adjustment type: Adjust available (with Adjust by, New quantity and Reason), Convert to infinite or Track quantity.
Open a row's menu to View logs or Delete stock.
Select Add new inventory to stock the variant at another location.
Select Apply when you're done.
On a saved product, quantity adjustments and new locations are saved straight away. On a new product, they're saved with the product.
Add images to a variant
Select a variant's image cell to open Upload product photos.
Upload PNG, JPEG, JPG, GIF or WebP images up to about 5 MB. They're saved straight away.
Drag images to reorder them, select the star to make one the main image, crop or delete an image.
Select an image to add its Arabic description and English description (alt text), then Save.
For a variant you just created, save the product before you add its images.
Delete variants
Select the delete icon on a variant and confirm.
To delete several, tick them and choose Delete from the bulk actions. There is no confirmation.
Deleted variants are removed when you select Save product. Deleting variants needs the permission to edit and delete products.
Add a single variant
To add one specific combination without rebuilding all the variants, select Add new custom option under the variants table. Add new variant opens in a new tab.
Under Product options, choose a value for every option of the product. To add a new value, choose the last item in the list.
Under Basic information, add images and set the Selling price, Product code SKU and Product weight. If you leave the SKU empty, one is generated for you.
Under Quantities and inventory, add the inventory locations and quantities, or tick Unlimited. Select Add for each extra location.

Sample data from a demo store. In the sidebar, optionally turn on Enable discount and Schedule discount.
Select Save.
If another variant already has the same values, the message The combination of options already exists for another variant. appears.
Set prices per market
When market pricing is available in your store and you have the permission to edit market prices, Edit Prices appears in the options toolbar. It opens a table where you set each variant's price and sale price for each market and sales channel. Zid POS prices are set in the primary market only. The prices of your primary market are copied back to the variants. Your changes are kept until you select Save product.
Edit Prices is disabled on a new product and while the variants have unsaved changes; save the product first.
