Shipping method details and customer rates

Each Zid Ship method has a details page where you check what it costs you, where it delivers and how pickup works, and where you set the prices your customers pay. Open it by selecting a method in Logistics > Shipping methods. The page is titled Shipping method details.

You need the Zid Ship view permissions to open this page. The details always reflect your ship-from inventory, shown under the method name as Selected inventory:.

What the header shows

The top card shows the method's logo and name, the selected inventory, a short description and the benefit icons. When the method is active you also see Activated and, if you own a label package for it, how many prepaid labels remain.

The buttons at the top change with the method's state:

ButtonWhen it appears
ActivateThe method isn't active yet. See Activate a shipping method.
Purchase labelsThe method is active and sold in label packages.
DeactivateThe method is active.

The page has the tabs Overview, Customization and FAQs. Locker methods add a Self drop-off tab. Customization and Self drop-off open only after you activate the method.

Overview tab

SectionWhat it shows
Shipping companiesThe carriers behind the method, when there is more than one.
CoverageHow many cities (or countries) the method delivers to. View details lists them, with a search box.
RateThe base rate you pay, applied when the order status changes to Ready. For international methods the recipient pays any import duties or taxes (DDU). View details opens the full rate.
Service detailsView details shows the Pickup window, the Transit time and the Box allowance (the most boxes one shipment can have).
Pickup by Zid CourierOn eligible methods: scheduled pickup by a Zid courier in Riyadh and Jeddah for 2 riyals per order, with the Enable priority pick-up switch once the method is active.

At the bottom, Domestic shipping or International shipping links to the method's terms and conditions.

On an international method, Coverage counts countries instead of cities, and Rate reminds you that the recipient pays any import duties or taxes (DDU).

The rate you pay

Rate > View details opens Shipping rate. The shipping label cost and any overweight charges are deducted from your wallet when the order is ready. Prices don't include VAT.

LineMeaning
Shipping costThe price per shipment, for example 5 riyals for up to 10 kg on weight-based methods. Distance-based methods show the price for the first kilometers.
Shipping cost for additional weightWhat each extra weight unit costs above the base weight, for example "for each additional 1kg".
Additional cost per extra kilometerOn distance-based methods, the price of each kilometer above the first ones.
Cash on delivery (COD)The fee Zid charges you for a COD shipment, on methods that support COD.
Special ratesFixed prices for specific routes, listed From one city To another.

International methods ask you to Select zone first, show the rate for that zone, and show COD as Not supported.

Set customer prices with custom zones

By default, customers pay the method's standard price and can choose it in every city it covers. Custom zones let you decide which cities see the method and what customers pay there, while Zid keeps charging you the base rate from the Overview tab.

When you add custom zones, the method covers only the cities in your zones. Add every city you want to keep serving.

Zones decide where a method appears. To hide a method for certain products, cart weights or customer groups instead, use Shipping constraints.

Create a zone

Create one zone for each group of cities that share a price, a pricing type and a COD setting. You need more than one zone when prices differ between cities, when you offer COD in some cities only, or when some cities pay a flat price and others a weight-based one. To leave out only a few cities, create a zone, use Select all for the country, then untick those cities. To serve the remaining cities at another price, create another zone for them.

  1. Open the Customization tab, which opens once the method is active, and select Create zone.

  2. On Create shipping zone, enter the Zone name in Arabic, English or both. It's for your reference; customers don't see it.

  3. Under Select cities, select Select, tick the cities, and select Save. You can search by city and use Select all for a country. Cities already used in another zone of this method are disabled and marked Used in another zone.

  4. Under Customer price, choose how customers pay:

    • Flat rate: one fixed price; you cover any extra cost. Enter the Shipping price.

    • Weight-based pricing: the price follows the order weight. Enter the Base price, the Base weight in kg, the Extra charge, and For each additional weight in kg. For example, a base price of 35 riyals for the first 15 kg and an extra charge of 5 riyals for each additional 5 kg charges a customer 45 riyals for a 25 kg order.

  5. If the method supports COD, turn on Cash on delivery (COD) and enter the COD rate customers pay.

  6. Optionally, write a Custom note in Arabic and English. Customers see it under the method at checkout.

  7. Select Save.

Under each price field, Zid shows the method's default value (such as Default base rate is or Merchant rate is) so you can compare your price with what you pay.

FieldRules
Zone nameRequired in at least one language
Select citiesRequired; a city can belong to one zone per method
Shipping priceRequired for a flat rate
Weight fieldsAll four are required for weight-based pricing
COD rateRequired when COD is on
Custom noteOptional

The four weight fields work together:

FieldWhat to enter
Base priceWhat the customer pays for an order up to the base weight, usually your carrier's price for that weight
Base weightHow many kilograms the base price covers
Extra chargeWhat the customer pays for each step of weight above the base weight
For each additional weightThe size of each step, in kilograms

For example, if your carrier charges 35 riyals within your city and 45 riyals to other cities for up to 15 kg, plus 5 riyals for every additional 5 kg, create two zones: your city with a base price of 35 riyals, and the other cities with a base price of 45 riyals, both with a base weight of 15 kg, an extra charge of 5 riyals and 5 kg for each additional weight.

At checkout, customers see the method with its price, the base weight it covers and the charge for each additional weight:

Personal details are covered.

Weight-based prices follow the order's weight, which adds up the Product weight you set for each product under Basic information on the product page. Keep product weights accurate: customers then pay the right price, and you avoid weight difference charges when the carrier weighs the shipment. See Product details.

Manage zones

The Customization table lists your zones with Zone, Cities, Shipping cost and its Type (Flat rate or Weight-based), COD and its price, and Status.

  • Use the Status switch to turn a zone off or on without deleting it.

  • Select Edit to change a zone's name, cities, prices, COD or note.

  • Delete a zone to remove its cities from the method's coverage.

  • Reset deletes every zone and returns the method to its default cities and prices. Zid asks you to confirm.

Once a method has custom zones, the note and COD settings apply per zone instead of to the whole method. The Overview tab says so in a notice.

Turn cash on delivery on or off

Cash on delivery (COD) lets customers pay when the order arrives instead of paying in advance, which reassures customers who want to check the order first. You turn it on or off per zone, on methods that support it.

  1. Open Logistics > Shipping methods and select the method.

  2. Open the Customization tab. If the method has no zones yet, select Create zone and add zones that cover every city you serve, as in Create a zone.

  3. Select Edit on the zone.

  4. Turn Cash on delivery (COD) on and enter the COD rate customers pay, or turn it off.

  5. Select Save.

Repeat the steps for each zone where you want to change COD. Methods that don't support COD, such as locker and international methods, don't show the switch. To hide COD only for some orders, for example above a cart amount, use Shipping and payment constraints instead.

International methods

For international methods, the Customization tab shows a table of destination zones instead. Each zone is a fixed group of countries that you can't change one by one, and the prices shown beside each zone are the carrier's defaults. To see which countries a zone includes and its rates, use View details on Coverage and Rate in the Overview tab.

For each zone you can edit only the Shipping cost up to 0.5 kg and the Cost for additional weight for each additional 0.5 kg, turn the zone on or off to choose where you ship, and select Save. A Custom note (optional) applies to the whole method; select Edit details to write it in Arabic and English.
