Zid Ship shipping methods

Zid Ship shipping methods are ready-to-use delivery services from carriers that work with Zid. You activate the ones you want, and they appear to customers at checkout for the cities they cover. Open them from Logistics > Shipping methods; the page is titled Manage shipping methods.

You need the permission to view shipping and delivery to open this page, and the Zid Ship permissions to open a method's details. Logistics is not available for non-profit (NGO) stores.

Browse shipping methods

The list depends on the inventory you ship from. The Inventory card at the top shows the current ship-from location; change it to see the methods, coverage and prices for another city. See Choose the inventory you ship from.

Methods are grouped in tabs by delivery speed. Each tab shows how many methods it holds and a short description of the category.

TabWhat it groups
ExpressFast delivery for urgent shipments, usually the same or the next day
StandardReliable delivery in a standard time at a balanced cost
EconomyLower-cost delivery that often asks you to hand shipments in at a set place, such as a branch or a locker
Care RequiredLarge, chilled or other shipments that need special handling in transit
InternationalDelivery to other countries

Activated methods appear first in each tab. To narrow the list:

  • Type in Search by shipping method name.

  • Sort by Newest first, Oldest first, Price, ascending or Price, descending.

  • Open the filters and choose a Fulfilment type (Pickup with courier or Branch drop-off), one or more Benefits, or Destination cities, then select Apply.

Benefits include options such as Cash-on-delivery, Easy returns, Smart Lockers, Heavy handling, Cold chain, Priority pickup, On-demand delivery and International shipping.

Pickup by Zid Courier

Pickup by Zid Courier lets you schedule pickups of your shipments by a Zid courier. It's available in Riyadh and Jeddah only, for 2 riyals per order. You can turn it on when you activate an eligible method, or later:

  1. Open Logistics and select the method in Active shipping methods, or select its card in Shipping methods.

  2. On the Overview tab, under Pickup by Zid Courier, turn on Enable priority pick-up.

If your inventory isn't covered, the switch is disabled and shows Not supported in current inventory. For some methods, such as Parcelat lockers, Zid courier pickup is always on and can't be turned off. When it's off, the carrier's own courier collects your shipments.

With Zid courier pickup, your shipments are collected from your inventory within 24 hours of the order becoming Ready, even when you have only one shipment, and the 2 riyals are deducted from your Zid wallet with each order. Care-required methods, such as heavy and chilled shipping, and international methods don't offer it.

On-demand delivery

On-demand methods, such as Careem and Barq in the Express tab, deliver light shipments within the city in one to three hours. They request a driver when you mark an order Ready. Before you activate one, Google Maps must be enabled before activation lists its conditions:

ConditionDetail
Pickup hoursFrom 11:00 am to 1:00 am, every day of the week
Shipment weight20 kg at most
Distance from your inventoryUp to 15 km with Careem and 50 km with Barq
Orders per driverOne: each driver collects a single order
Shipping labelCareem shipments have no label to print

To activate an on-demand method:

  1. Make the map location required at checkout, so the driver has the customer's exact location. Go to Settings > General > Checkout page options, select Customization under Customer address determination, turn on Select on Google Maps, tick Make it required, and select Save. Activate Google Maps in the activation dialog opens the same page. See Customer address fields.

The Location determination card with Select on Google Maps on and Make it required ticked
Sample data from a demo store.
  2. Pin your inventory location on the map, since the driver collects from there and the distance is measured from it. See Warehouses and inventory locations.

  3. In the Express tab, select Activate on the method, read its conditions, and select Activate.

When you ship with it:

  • Mark an order Ready only once it's packed and the customer can receive it.

  • If you have more than one inventory location, marking the order Ready asks which location the driver collects from and how many boxes the shipment has. See Issue a shipping label.

  • If no driver is available when you mark the order Ready, you can reactivate the request and create another shipment.

Conditions can change, so check the activation dialog and the method's FAQs tab before you activate it.

Smart locker drop-off

Locker methods let you drop shipments in a smart locker yourself, open around the clock, and the customer collects the order from the locker they chose at checkout. RedBox lockers cover many cities; Parcelat lockers serve Riyadh only and always use Zid courier pickup. Their limits are a maximum weight of 35 kg and dimensions of 351 × 430 × 500 mm, and the price includes 48 hours of storage. With 5 or more shipments marked Ready, you can arrange a courier pickup from your inventory; smaller batches must be dropped off. After you activate a RedBox method, its Self drop-off tab shows your drop-off code, a QR pass to download and print, the locker sizes and the steps at the locker.

Lockers don't take cash on delivery: their conditions allow payment on pickup only electronically, by Visa, mada, Apple Pay or Mastercard.

Move to the new shipping zones and rates

Some activated methods still use the earlier pricing setup. When you open one of them, Zid shows New Shipping Zones & Rates System with two choices:

ChoiceChoose it if
Apply default settingsYou want the method to cover every city it supports and to charge customers its default rate and COD fee.
Customize from scratchYou want to leave some cities out or set your own price per city or zone. This opens Create shipping zone.

Review the method after you confirm: the new settings apply to your checkout immediately.

Settings that affect your shipping methods

A few settings outside this page change how your methods appear at checkout:

Return shipping methods

Methods for return shipments have no Activate button. You use them when you issue a return shipping label from an order. See Returns and refunds.

You can activate Zid Ship for returns only, without turning on any of its delivery methods for your store. Return options include branch drop-off with SMSA and Aramex, where the customer takes the shipment to the company's nearest branch.
