Customer address fields

Customer address settings decide how customers enter their shipping address at checkout: with Google Maps, with the Saudi national address, and with which address fields in each country. To open them, go to Settings > General > Checkout page options and select Customization under Customer address determination. The page opens as Customize customer address.

With Google Maps on, customers adding a new address at checkout search for it on the map, by their full address or their short national address, then complete the country, city and street fields.

The national address is now required for all domestic shipments in Saudi Arabia. Turn on Activate national address (SPL) to avoid shipment delays. The requirement covers delivery addresses in Saudi Arabia only, including orders you ship to Saudi Arabia from another country.

Prepare for the national address requirement

Under Saudi Council of Ministers Decision No. 252, which makes the national address mandatory, shipments within Saudi Arabia need the recipient's short national address, and shipping companies can delay or reject a shipment without it. To get your store ready:

  1. Add the Short National Address of each inventory location in Saudi Arabia. See Warehouses and inventory locations.

  2. Turn on Activate national address (SPL) under Location determination, then select Save.

Once it is on, customers who ship to Saudi Arabia give their short national address at checkout, by pinning their location on the map or by typing their address. A saved address without a short national address doesn't let them complete the payment until they add one. Customers can update their saved addresses at any time from their account in your store.

For an order placed without a short national address, such as one placed before you turned the option on, the order page shows Short address not found. Add the short address to the customer's address, then issue the shipping label. See Short address alert.

Address fields by country

The Customize the address according to the country table lists one customization per country. Each customization sets which address fields customers see at checkout when they ship to that country, and which of them are required.
