URL redirects
URL redirects send visitors who open an old or broken link on your store to a page that works, for example after you rename a product, move a category or replace a page. Customers and search engines that follow the old link land on the new page instead of a "page not found" error. Open the page from Settings > URL redirects in the Settings sidebar.
URL redirects are available on plans that include them. On other plans the page shows an upgrade message with the plan that adds the feature.
When a redirect applies
A redirect takes effect only when its old link is broken, that is, when the link leads to a "page not found" (404) error. If the old link still opens a page in your store, such as a product that still exists, visitors see that page and the redirect is ignored. A redirect from the link of a deleted product works; a redirect from the link of an existing product does not.
| Old link | What happens |
|---|---|
/product/my-old-product | The product was deleted, so the link is broken: the redirect runs |
/product/my-active-product | The product still exists in your store: the redirect is ignored |
Zid's redirects are permanent (301) redirects, the type search engines expect when a page has moved for good. They help the new page keep the old link's place in search results.
Create a redirect
Go to Settings > URL redirects.
Click Create New Link. If you have no redirects yet, you can also click Set Up Redirection.

Sample data from a demo store. Fill in the fields in Add new redirect link.

Sample data from a demo store. Click Create. The redirect is added to the table and starts working right away.
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Redirect Name | A name to recognize the redirect in your list, for example Wireless charger. Required |
| Redirect From | The old path after your store address, for example product/charger. Required |
| Redirect To | The path visitors should land on, for example product/category/charger. Required |
Both link fields show your store address before the path. If you paste a full link from your store, the store address is removed and only the path is kept.
For example, to send visitors from an old offers page to a summer sale collection:
| Field | Full link | What you enter |
|---|---|---|
| Redirect Name | Old offers page | |
| Redirect From | https://store.example.com/old-offers | /old-offers |
| Redirect To | https://store.example.com/products/summer-sale | /products/summer-sale |
Edit or delete a redirect
In the redirects table:
Click Edit in a row, change the fields in Edit redirect link, and click Save.
Click Delete in a row and confirm to delete that redirect.
To delete several redirects at once, select their rows, click Delete in the bar that appears above the table, and confirm.
Find a redirect
The table has three columns: Redirect Name, Redirect From and Redirect To.
Type in the search box to find a redirect.
Use the sort menu to order the list by any of the three columns, ascending or descending.
Change Rows per page at the bottom of the table to show more redirects on a page.
Import redirects in bulk
Use an import file when you have many links to redirect:
You are moving to Zid from another platform and need to bring many links with you. See Move your store to Zid.
You want to change many existing redirects at once: export them, edit the file, and import it.
You want to restore a backup you exported earlier.
Open the more actions menu (⋮) next to Export Links and choose Import Links.

Sample data from a demo store. In step 1, click Download to get the template.
Fill in one redirect per row and save the file.
In step 2, click Upload and choose your file. The dashboard accepts
.xlsxand.csvfiles.Click Import.
When the import succeeds, the dashboard shows Links imported successfully and the list refreshes. If it fails, the dialog shows Failed to import Links with the reason, so you can fix the file and upload it again.
Export your redirects
Click Export Links.
Zid prepares the file and takes you to Export requests.
Download the file there once it is ready.
Keep the exported file as a backup of your redirects, for example before you import a large batch.
