Cashier licenses

Each cashier is a POS Pro license that one point of sale uses to sell. The Cashiers page lists your licenses with their branch, status and expiry date, and lets you add, edit, renew and assign them. Open it from Channels > POS > Cashiers.

Viewing this page needs the POS permission or the permission to view cashiers. Adding, editing, renewing and upgrading cashiers needs the permission to manage cashiers; without it, Edit is hidden and the other buttons show a permission message.

Read the cashiers list

Use the search box above the table to find a cashier, and the page numbers below it to move between pages.

ColumnWhat it shows
Cashier's nameThe name you gave the cashier.
Reference nameThe cashier's fixed code, such as CASHIER-3-36. You can't change it.
LocationThe inventory location (branch) the cashier is assigned to, or --- when none is set.
StatusActive, Expiring Soon or Expired.
Expiration dateWhen the license ends.

Each row ends with Renew (or Upgrade on POS Go) and Edit.

On POS Go, the table shows only the owner's cashier, Add Cashier is unavailable and the row shows Upgrade instead of Renew. See POS Go and POS Pro plans.

Add a cashier

  1. Go to Channels > POS > Cashiers.

  2. Click Add Cashier.

  3. On the Add New Cashier page, choose a package and the number of licenses, then click Proceed to checkout and pay.

The full steps and packages are in POS Go and POS Pro plans.

  2. In the Cashier's data dialog, change the fields you need:

Assign cashiers to a branch

When Enable location-based POS access is on in POS settings, staff only reach the POS data and cashiers of their assigned locations, so each cashier needs a location. You can assign several cashiers at once:

  1. Go to Channels > POS > Cashiers.

  2. Select the cashiers with the checkboxes in the table.

  3. Click Assign to inventory / branch.

  4. In the Linking the cashier to the inventory dialog, choose the Inventory / branch. Only enabled inventory locations are listed.

  5. Click Save.

To assign one cashier, you can also use Inventory in its Edit dialog.

With location-based access on, make sure each staff member who sells is added as a cashier on the team page, then assign each cashier a location here. See Staff members.

Renew a cashier

  1. Click Renew in the cashier's row. It works for active, expiring and expired licenses.

  2. The checkout opens for one year of that cashier's subscription. Complete the payment.

The new expiry date appears in Expiration date once the payment goes through.
