Connect Mailchimp or Klaviyo to your Zid store
Email marketing platforms grow your subscriber list and send campaigns and automated messages, such as a welcome series or a reminder about an abandoned cart. Zid connects with two of them through the App market:
| App | Price in the App Market | How it connects |
|---|---|---|
| Mailchimp | Free | Adds Mailchimp's site code to your store, for its pop-up sign-up forms |
| Klaviyo integration | A paid plan for the integration, on top of your Klaviyo plan | Sends your customers, products, orders and store events to Klaviyo with your API keys |
Both platforms charge for their own plans. The Klaviyo integration plan in the App Market pays for the connection only, as its page says, not for your Klaviyo account.
Connect Mailchimp
Mailchimp manages email marketing campaigns and keeps you in touch with your customers and subscribers by email.
Go to Mailchimp and click Sign Up to create an account with your email, or Log In if you have one.

Open your account menu at the top and choose Account & billing.

Open Extras and choose Custom Website.

At the bottom of the page, under Get custom website code, enter your store address in Enter site URL, choose the audience new subscribers join, and click Get Code.

In the code, find the address that contains
/users/. Copy the part after/users/up to.js: two IDs separated by a slash.

In your Zid dashboard, open Apps > App Market, search for Mailchimp, open the app and click Activate.
Paste the IDs in Account code on the App activation card and click Activate.
Once the code is on your store, the pop-up forms you design in Mailchimp appear to your visitors, and the people who sign up join your audience. Click Check Connection in Mailchimp to confirm it finds the code.
Connect Klaviyo
Klaviyo automates your marketing: it gathers your customers' data and targets each one by what they do in your store, with the right message at the right time. With it you can:
Send personalized emails based on conditions, such as how many orders a customer placed or the value of their cart.
Target each customer with data such as their location and average order value.
Announce offers, discounts and new products by email.
Install the app
Open Klaviyo integration in the App Market and click Subscribe.
Choose a plan, review the data the app can access, and click Continue to payment. See App plans and subscriptions.
Pay on the checkout page. The app then asks for your Klaviyo API keys.
Create the API key in Klaviyo
You need a Klaviyo account to get the keys the app asks for.
Sign in to Klaviyo, click your account name at the bottom left, and choose Settings.

Under Account, open API keys, then click Create Private API Key.

Enter a name in Private API Key Name and choose Full Access Key, then create the key.

Copy the key right away and keep it somewhere safe outside Klaviyo: Klaviyo shows it only once.
Back in Zid, open the app from My apps and paste the key, with any other key the app asks for, in its fields.
Once connected, the app shows how many products, orders and customers it downloaded from Zid and uploaded to Klaviyo. To replace the keys later, click the button under these counts to update your Klaviyo keys and paste the new ones.

What Zid sends to Klaviyo
A profile for each customer, with their name, email, mobile number and location.
Your products and store information.
Store events you can start flows with: viewed product, added to cart, started checkout, placed order, ordered product, abandoned cart and active on site.
Order updates: an order marked Completed is sent as fulfilled, and orders marked Cancelled or Reversed are sent as such.
Build your first campaigns in Klaviyo
Lists gather the customers you target with campaigns, from a sign-up form or a CSV file of customer data you upload. To create one:
In Klaviyo, go to Audience > Lists & segments and create a new list.
Enter the list's name and its tags, then click Create list.

Choose how to add people: a sign-up form, a subscribe page, uploading contacts from a CSV file, or adding them one by one.

Segments group customers by conditions, such as people who opened an email last month. Customers join or leave a segment automatically as they meet its conditions.
Flows send emails and text messages automatically when a customer does something, such as joining a list, placing an order or leaving a cart. After you publish a flow, its analytics show how many customers received each message.

Klaviyo's help center, academy and training sessions explain lists, segments and flows in depth.
