Abandoned carts

An abandoned cart is a cart a customer filled but did not check out. The abandoned carts page shows these carts, how much they are worth and how many turned into orders, and lets you remind customers to complete their purchase. Open it from Orders > Abandoned carts.

Viewing abandoned carts needs the staff permission to view them, sending reminders needs permission to manage them, and exporting needs permission to export them. Some figures, reminders and exports depend on your plan.

Send an abandoned cart reminder

You remind a customer with a message you saved in Abandoned cart reminders with Manual reminder as its sending method. If you have none yet, create one there first.

  1. Select Send reminder on a cart's row, or open the cart and select Send reminder at the top.

  2. Under Select method, choose SMS, WhatsApp or Email.

  3. Under Select message, choose one of your reminder messages. Select Load more messages to see more. To write a new one, select Create new message. The list shows reminders saved as Manual reminder only, never automatic ones; for WhatsApp, it shows only those whose message Meta has approved.

  4. Select Send. The dashboard confirms with Reminder sent successfully, and the reminder appears in the cart's Record reminders.

  • SMS is available once your SMS sender name is approved. See Sender name.

  • WhatsApp needs an active WhatsApp subscription and enough WhatsApp balance. When the balance is too low, you see Insufficient WhatsApp balance with Top up balance. See WhatsApp.

  • Sending reminders needs a plan that includes them. Without it, you see Upgrade your package to be able to send reminders.

Remind several customers at once

  1. Select the carts' checkboxes.

  2. Select Actions > Send bulk reminders. The Actions button shows how many carts you selected.

To remind customers by phone, use Zid Voice: an AI voice assistant that calls customers about their abandoned carts. Install it from the App market, and it appears in the sidebar under Orders > Zid Voice. See Zid Voice.

Export abandoned carts

  1. Filter the list if you want to export only some carts.

  2. Select Export at the top of the page.

Zid prepares the file and takes you to Export requests, where you download it when it is ready.

The exported spreadsheet lists each cart's customer and products. Use it to see which products customers leave behind most and to plan offers or campaigns that bring them back.

Exporting abandoned carts needs a plan that includes it. Otherwise, selecting Export shows an upgrade message.

When the list is empty

When you have no abandoned carts, the page shows Turn missed carts into new opportunities with a shortcut to Manage reminders.

In stores registered as charities, the page is called Abandoned donations and the second tab is Carts converted into donations.
