Connect Clarity, Hotjar, Crazy Egg, Contentsquare and Smartarget to your Zid store
Visitor analytics tools record how shoppers move through your store: where they click, how far they scroll and where they leave before buying. Session recordings and heatmaps show you what to fix on a product or checkout page. Smartarget adds engagement widgets, such as stories, reviews and contact buttons, to your storefront.
Each tool has a free app in the App market, most of them in the Analytics & Reports category, and you connect it the same way: create an account with the tool, copy the code it gives you, and paste it in the app's Account code field. You pay the tool directly for any paid plan it offers.
| App | What it does | The code you enter |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Clarity | Free session recordings, heatmaps and AI insights from Microsoft | Your Clarity project ID |
| Hotjar | Session recordings, heatmaps and visitor feedback, to understand how customers behave | Your Hotjar site ID |
| Crazyegg | Heatmaps, scroll maps, traffic sources by click, and session recordings | Your account number, such as 1234/5678 |
| Content Square | Full visitor journeys, heatmaps and session replay, without manual tagging | The ID in your Contentsquare tag |
| Smartarget | Widgets that engage visitors, such as stories, reviews and corner ribbons | Your Smartarget user ID |
Activate the app in Zid
In your Zid dashboard, open Apps > App Market and search for the tool's name.
Open the app's page and click Activate. The page scrolls to the App activation card.
Paste the code from the tool in Account code. The field's example shows what the code looks like.
Click Activate. The card shows Activated.
To change the code later, click Edit on the card, update Account code and click Save.
Microsoft Clarity
Clarity installs itself through Google Tag Manager, with no code to paste: it tracks your visitors' behavior and gives you session recordings and heatmaps to improve your store.
Before you start, connect Google Tag Manager to your store. See Connect Google Tag Manager.
Go to Microsoft Clarity and sign in, or create an account, with your email, a Google account or a Microsoft account.
Click New project and fill in the project details: your store's name, its address and your business category. Then click Add new project.

Your new project opens. Click View all platforms.

Choose Google Tag Manager from the supported platforms.

Click Connect now.

Choose the Google account you use for Google Tag Manager.

Click Continue to allow Clarity the access it asks for.

Choose your Tag Manager account and your store's container, then click Create and publish.

Clarity confirms the connection: Google Tag Manager integration shows Connected.

To test it, visit your store, then refresh Clarity and open Recordings.

Your visit appears in the recordings after a short delay, with the page you entered on, your device and your country.

You can also connect Clarity with the Microsoft Clarity app instead: copy the project ID from the project's settings and paste it in the app's Account code. Use one method, not both.
Hotjar
Hotjar records your visitors' movements in your store and gives you the details you need to understand customer behavior and judge how your store performs.
In Zid, open the Hotjar app from the App Market. It asks for the site ID from your Hotjar account.
If you don't have a Hotjar account, sign up with your email. You can start on the free plan to try the service, then upgrade.

Hotjar emails you a code. Enter it and click Confirm.

Set a password that meets the rules shown, accept the terms of service and click Next.

Choose everything you want to achieve with Hotjar and click Next.

Enter your role, whether you manage the account for clients, and your organization's name and size, then click Next.

Enter your store address and the site type, then click Start Using Hotjar.

Copy the Site ID shown on the installation page, paste it in Account code in the Hotjar app in Zid, and click Activate.

Back in Hotjar, open Verify installation, enter your store address and click Verify Installation to confirm that Hotjar runs on your store.

Once verified, Hotjar opens your dashboard:
Incoming, in the menu on the left, collects visitor feedback. Filter it by period and by rating, and create more than one feedback widget.

Recordings shows each visitor's journey: the pages they visited and how long they stayed. Filter the list, then play a recording to watch how a visitor behaved in your store.

Crazy Egg
Crazy Egg records each visit from the moment a visitor enters your store until they leave, so you discover your customers' shopping patterns.
Go to Crazy Egg, enter your store address and click Show me my Heatmap.

Sign up with your email.

Set your password, agree to the terms of use and click Continue.

Choose the plan that suits you. Every plan starts with a 30-day free trial.

Enter your card details to complete the payment.

In your Crazy Egg dashboard, click Install Crazy Egg.

Choose to install the tracking script yourself.

The script shows your account number between
scripts/and.js: two groups of digits separated by a slash. Copy only that number, paste it in Account code in the Crazyegg app in Zid, and click Activate.

Back in Crazy Egg, click Next, enter your store address and click Check URL to confirm the script runs, then click Next.

Heatmaps and recordings become useful once enough visitors have come to your store. With little traffic, give them a few weeks before you draw conclusions.
Contentsquare
Contentsquare records the whole visitor journey without setting up events or manual tracking, and turns it into clear, interactive insights that help you improve your customers' experience and conversion rates.
Create a Contentsquare account if you don't have one.
On the Get started page, open Tag installation and look at the code under Copy the code.
Copy the ID in the script address: the letters and numbers after the last
/up to.js.

In Zid, open the Content Square app from the App Market, paste the ID in Account code and click Activate.
Back in Contentsquare, click Verify installation.
Smartarget
Smartarget offers widgets that increase engagement with your store's visitors and customers.
In Zid, open the Smartarget app from the App Market. It asks for the user ID from your Smartarget account.
If you don't have a Smartarget account, go to Smartarget and click Sign up for free.

Open the Integration tab and copy your user ID. Paste it in Account code in the app in Zid and click Activate.

In Smartarget, open Websites and click Add website.

Enter your store address, without
httporwww, and click Add.

All the stores in your Smartarget account appear. Click Configure Apps under the store you want.

Browse the widgets by category, click Connect App on the one you want, adjust its settings and save.

The widgets appear on your store once you save their settings in Smartarget.
Every tracking tool loads on your store's pages. If you also use Google Tag Manager or several pixels, check that your pages still load quickly.
