Manual orders
Manual orders let you place an order on a customer's behalf, for example when they order by phone or WhatsApp. You build the order in four steps, and Zid saves it as a draft until you confirm it. Open the list from Orders > Manual orders.
Creating and opening manual orders needs the staff permission to create orders. Changing a product's price or discount in a manual order needs permission to edit order product prices.
The manual orders list
The list shows the drafts that have not been confirmed yet.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Manual order reference | The draft's reference |
| Customer name | The customer, once you chose one. Select the name to open their profile. |
| Order date | When the draft was started |
| Edit date | When the draft was last changed |
| Total | The draft total so far |

Select Edit on a row to continue a draft where you left off, or select Delete and confirm to delete it. More drafts load as you scroll.
When you have no drafts, the page shows Create orders manually for customers with Create your first manual order now.
Create a manual order
Start a new manual order in any of these ways:
Select Create on the Manual orders page.
Select Create on the Orders page.
Use the add (+) menu in the top bar.
The Create a new manual order page opens with four steps: Adding products, Customer information, Payment & shipping method and Order summary. Select Next to move on and Previous to go back. Zid saves your progress as you go, so you can leave and finish the draft later from the manual orders list.
Step 1: Adding products
Choose the Currency of the order. In stores that sell in several markets, choose the customer's Country instead; the currency follows the country. Changing the country clears what you entered so far.
Optionally, choose the inventory location to fulfil the order from in Choose Inventory.
Select Select products (or Add products once the order has products) and pick products and their options. Out-of-stock products cannot be picked unless their stock is unlimited. The picker also lists products marked Hidden in your store, so you can sell an item you don't show publicly and send the customer a payment link for it.

Sample data from a demo store. Adjust each product in the table:
Column What you can do Quantity Change the quantity Discount Give a percentage discount on the product. The net price updates to match. Net price The unit price before tax. Type a lower or higher price; the original price stays visible. Total / Currency The line total Weight Shows the product's weight
Personal details are covered. Select the reset icon on a row to restore the product's original price, or Delete to remove the product. A price or discount you set here applies to this order only; the product's price in your catalog does not change.
Select Next. It is enabled once the order has at least one product and a currency.
Step 2: Customer information
In Select or create a customer, search by name or phone number and pick the customer. Inactive customers cannot be picked. To add a new customer, select Create and fill in the same form as in Add a customer. Adding a Company customer depends on your plan: when your plan does not include it, Company is disabled and shows the plan that does.
Under Select delivery address, pick one of the customer's addresses. If the customer wants the order sent somewhere else, select Add new address.

Sample data from a demo store. The Add new address form asks for:
Field Rule Country Required City Required District Required Street Optional Postal code and Building number Optional Short address Optional, for some Saudi addresses For Saudi addresses you can also pin the Exact location on the map. Select Save to add the address to the customer's addresses and use it for this order.

Sample data from a demo store. If someone else receives the order, for example a gift, check Is someone else will receive the shipment? and fill in Recipient information (Name, Email, Phone number) and Recipient address (Country, City, District, Street, Short address). The email and short address are optional. Check Receiving messages and order notifications for the recipient? to notify the recipient too. Then select Send to different recipient.
Select Next.
Step 3: Payment & shipping method
Shipping method
For orders that need shipping, choose Delivery to site or Pickup from location, then pick the method. If no method covers the selected address, Zid asks you to choose another address.
Some carrier methods deliver to a pickup point, such as one of the carrier's branches. When you choose one, Select a pickup point opens with the carrier's branches, each showing how far it is from the customer. Search them with Search for address or pick a branch on the map, then select Confirm. The method field then shows the method followed by the branch's address. The method is saved only after you confirm a branch; to change the branch, choose the same method again.
Payment method
Under Choose payment method, pick one of the payment methods active in your store:

| Method | Extra settings |
|---|---|
| Bank transfer | Bank transfer status: Paid or Unpaid. When paid, you can add a Transfer receipt (Optional) and choose the bank it was sent to from your bank accounts. |
| Manual payment | Manual payment status: Paid or Unpaid |
| Cash on delivery | Available only when cash on delivery is enabled for this customer. Otherwise you see COD is not activated for this customer. |
| Payment link | See below |
If you choose Paid, the order is marked paid when you confirm it. If you choose Unpaid, it is saved as unpaid. Before you mark a bank transfer Paid, check that the money reached your bank account: a receipt image alone does not prove the payment.

Payment link
A payment link sends the customer a page where they pay online.
Under Link details, choose the Used language (Arabic or English) and the Link expiry date.
Check Customers must agree to the terms and conditions. if needed.
Under Payment methods supported, choose which online and buy now, pay later methods the link accepts, or keep All Payment Methods.
Under Send by, check Send a payment link to your customer via sms to send it by text message. The link is also emailed when the customer has an email address. If they do not, check Send a payment link to your customer via email and enter the address in Email.
Select Save.
You can also share the link by WhatsApp after you place the order.
Payment links need Zid Payments to be active. When it is not, you see Payment link is supported when Zid Payments is activated. Sending the link by SMS needs the SMS option turned on in your Zid Payments settings and enough SMS credit. See Payment links.
When the store has no payment or shipping method the order can use, you see No payment & shipping method available with Activate payment method.
Step 4: Order summary
Review the order:
Order summary: the products, with a Customer notes field for any note on the order
Customer and Recipient: the contact details, with View to open the customer's profile
Address: the delivery address
Invoice: the subtotal, shipping, VAT and total. Enter a code in Add a marketing code and select Add to apply a coupon.

Check that everything is right, then select Confirm to place the order. Zid saves it as a new order, informs the customer by text message, and opens the new order's page.
Duplicate an existing order
To start a manual order from an existing one, open the order and select More options > Duplicate order, or select orders in the list and use Actions > Duplicate order. Zid copies the products, customer, address and methods into a new draft and tells you about anything it could not copy, such as a deleted or out-of-stock product or a payment method that is no longer available. See Order details.
In stores registered as charities, manual orders are called manual donations, and the last step is Donation summary.
