Languages and currencies

Store language and currencies controls the languages your storefront is available in and the currencies customers can shop with. Open it from Settings > Languages & currencies.

You need the permission to view languages and currencies to open this page, and the permission to manage them to change anything. Without the manage permission, any change you try opens a permission message.

Languages

The Languages card has a card for Arabic (أ ب ت) and one for English (ABC). Each shows a switch that turns the language on or off for customers, and either a Default language badge or a Set as default button.

Turn English on or off

  1. Go to Settings > Languages & currencies.

  2. In the English card, turn the switch on or off.

Arabic stays on and its switch is locked, except in the single-language case described below.

Turning on a language doesn't translate your store. Every text field, such as product names and descriptions, categories, store pages and legal pages, has its own field for each active language, and you fill in the English text yourself. Some fields, such as those on store pages, have a button that translates the text into the other language with AI.

Change the default language

The default language is the one your store opens in.

  1. Find the card of the language you want as the default.

  2. Click Set as default.

The language's card then shows the Default language badge.

Plans that include multiple languages let both Arabic and English run at the same time. On plans with one store language, turning on English asks you to confirm that English becomes your store's primary language, and it replaces Arabic. Turning Arabic back on the same way makes Arabic the primary language again.

You cannot turn off the default language. If you try, the dashboard shows: The default store language cannot be turned off. Set the other language as default first.

Currencies

The Currencies table lists the currencies you can offer, with a search box to find one quickly.

Activate a currency

  1. Search for the currency or country.

  2. Turn on its switch in Active.

To stop offering a currency, turn its switch off. The default currency's switch cannot be turned off.

Activating a country's currency also turns on shipping to that country. Customers there still need a shipping method that covers their address; see Delivery zones.

If your plan does not include multiple currencies, your store can have only one currency. Turning on another currency asks you to confirm that all other currencies will be turned off and the new one becomes the default. An upgrade message on the page shows which plan adds more currencies.

Change the default currency

  1. Make sure the currency is active.

  2. Click Set as default in its row.

When you change the currency, sales are converted to the new currency at the current exchange rate, so your total sales figure may change.

After you change the default currency, the page shows Change your product prices! Update your product prices to match the new base currency. Click Products page in the message to go straight to your products.

If you use the customer wallet, your default currency is locked because the wallet depends on it. The page shows a message about it and Set as default is disabled. Click Contact support if you need to change it. See Customer wallet.

What customers pay with Zid Payments

Zid Payments is available to stores in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. When it is your online payment method and you activate other currencies, customers browse your prices in the currency they pick, but the payment itself is made in your store's base currency, the Saudi riyal or the Kuwaiti dinar, on every card network. Payments with KNET are always made in Kuwaiti dinars. See Zid Payments.

Stores that use Markets

If your store manages prices by market, currencies are managed from Markets instead. The Currencies card then shows Currency management relocated with a link to the markets page, where you add countries to markets or create new markets. See Markets and international selling.
