Payment methods and Zid Payments

The Payments page gathers every way your customers can pay you: Zid Payments for cards and Apple Pay, buy now pay later (BNPL) services, bank transfer and other payment gateways. Open it from Payments in the sidebar.

What Zid Payments is

Zid Payments is Zid's built-in payment service. Once it is active, your store accepts cards and wallets such as mada, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay, the money collected is paid out to your bank account, and you follow every transaction, payout and payment link from the dashboard.

  • There are no setup or monthly fees. Each transaction carries a percentage fee plus a fixed fee, excluding VAT, set by the payment network and your Zid plan. Higher plans pay lower fees.

  • Zid Payments is available to stores in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

  • You can run Zid Payments or one other payment gateway for card payments, not both at once. BNPL services and bank transfer work alongside either.

  • When your store offers more than one currency, customers can pay in the currency they shop in, and the payment is converted at the payment gateway's exchange rate. See Languages and currencies.

Activating online payments needs a Zid plan that includes online payments. If your plan does not, Activate online payments opens an upgrade dialog. To open the page you need the staff permission to view or manage payment options.

How customers pay with Zid Payments

Customers see only the networks you turned on. Their logos appear in your store's footer, on the shipping and payment options page and in the checkout steps, and customers pay without leaving your store, except with KNET.

Card payments

With mada, Visa, Mastercard and American Express, the customer pays in these steps:

  1. At checkout, the customer chooses the card network, enters the card details on your checkout page and confirms the order.

The payment step of a store's checkout on a phone, with mada selected and the name on card, card number, expiry date and CVV fields
Personal details are covered.
  1. The ordered quantities are held while the card details are checked. If the card details are wrong, the customer sees an error explaining it, and the quantities go back to stock.

  2. The customer moves to their bank's 3-D Secure page and enters the verification code.

  3. With the right code and a card that can pay, the amount is charged and the customer returns to your store, where the order is confirmed.

Personal details are covered.
  1. With a wrong code, or a card problem such as an insufficient balance, the customer returns to your store and sees an error, and the quantities go back to stock.

Apple Pay and KNET

Apple Pay comes as two networks, Apple Pay (mada) and Apple Pay (Visa). You turn each on or off separately in Zid Payments settings, and the Payment network filter in Transactions tells them apart.

You find failed payments and their reasons in Transactions.

Start accepting online payments

  1. Go to Payments.

  2. In the All Networks card, select Activate online payments.

  3. If your store has no published product yet, a dialog titled The last step to activate Zid payments asks you to add one with a name, a price and an image. Select Add product, publish the product, then come back.

  4. Complete the activation form. Activate Zid Payments explains each step.

Activate online payments does not appear while an earlier request is under review, or when your store is outside Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. In that case the card shows Payments are available exclusively for merchants in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Offer Emkan or Madfu through Zid Payments

When Zid Payments is active, Emkan and Madfu installments can run as Zid Payments networks instead of separate integrations. An alert or a pop-up tells you when one is available to your store. Select Activate in the alert to turn it on, and you are taken to the payment networks in Zid Payments settings. The service stays in the BNPL card, and its Activate button takes you to the same networks.

You can also turn it on yourself:

  1. Go to Payments and select Manage at the top of the page.
