Get your IBAN certificate and other Zid Payments documents

Before Zid Payments pays out, Zid reviews your business documents. Most of them come from outside Zid: your bank, the Freelance platform, the Ministry of Commerce and Saudi Post (SPL). This page lists what each business type needs, how to get each document step by step and what it must show to pass review.

Upload your documents in Settings > Store > Store information, on the Business details and Business address tabs, then apply as described in Activate Zid Payments. The application reads them from there.

Documents by business type

These are the documents for stores in Saudi Arabia. The Payment activation requirements section on the Zid Payments learn more page lists the same groups.

Keep these in mind for every business type:

• Valid documents. The owner's ID, the commercial registration or freelance certificate, and any license must be valid when you apply. A commercial registration must stay valid for at least two more months.

• Matching names. The ID holder is the owner on the commercial registration or freelance certificate. For a company, the owners' IDs match the articles of association.

• Readable copies. Upload complete and correct documents in good quality, with every detail easy to read.

• Licenses when needed. Some activities need a license from the relevant authority, such as a Ministry of Media license to sell books. The review asks for one when your activity needs it. A VAT certificate and an activity license are added when you have them.

Get your IBAN certificate

The IBAN certificate (also called a bank certificate or IBAN letter) is an official letter from your bank that shows the account Zid pays your payouts into. Download it from your bank's app or online banking, or ask your branch or your account manager for it. The sections below walk through the apps of the banks merchants use most.

What the certificate must show

If your bank's app shows the beneficiary name only in Arabic, ask the bank to add the English name to your account first, then download the certificate.

Each bank names the certificate differently, and menu names change between app versions. If a step below doesn't match your app, search the app for "IBAN" or ask your bank. The screenshots show each app in Arabic, so each step gives the Arabic label in parentheses. Choose English as the document language wherever the app asks.

Al Rajhi Bank

1. Sign in to the Al Rajhi Bank app, or to Al Rajhi Online on the web.

1. Tap "More" (المزيد), then "My e-documents" (مستنداتي الإلكترونية).

1. On "My documents" (مستنداتي), tap "Request new document" (طلب مستند جديد).

1. Choose the document type: "Bank certificate" (شهادة مصرفية) for a business account, or the IBAN letter (خطاب الآيبان) for a personal account.

1. Choose English as the document language, check that the beneficiary name is in English, then tap "Next" (التالي).

1. The IBAN certificate opens. Download it and check the beneficiary name again before you upload it.

Alinma Bank

1. Sign in to the Alinma Bank app.

1. On the home screen, tap "Accounts" (الحسابات).

1. Choose "Digital bank certificates" (الشهادات المصرفية الرقمية).

1. Choose "Partner details certificate" (شهادة بيانات الشريك).

1. Choose your bank account and tap "Confirm" (تأكيد). The screen shows the email the certificate goes to, the party it is addressed to (Zid) and the fee.

1. The certificate arrives by email. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Saudi National Bank (SNB)

Saudi National Bank was formed from the National Commercial Bank (NCB), so older guides may use that name.

1. Sign in to the SNB app.

1. Tap "Accounts" (الحسابات).

1. Choose the bank account.

1. In the account details, open the file download options (تحميل الملف) and tap "IBAN letter" (خطاب أيبان).

1. The certificate opens. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Arab National Bank (ANB)

1. Sign in to the ANB app.

1. Open the menu and tap "Letter / digital certificate" (خطاب / شهادة رقمية).

1. Tap "Account identification certificate (IBAN)" (شهادة تعريف بالحساب (ايبان)).

1. Choose the bank account, choose English as the document language, then tap "Execute" (نفذ).

1. Enter the verification code that the bank sends to your mobile by text message.

1. The app confirms that your request was submitted and shows the certificate type, the account, the request date and a reference number. Open the certificate and check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Riyad Bank

1. Sign in to the Riyad Bank app.

2. Tap "Accounts and cards" (الحسابات والبطاقات), then "Accounts" (الحسابات).

3. Choose your current account (الحساب الجاري), then tap "Print IBAN certificate" (طباعة شهادة الآيبان).

4. The certificate opens with the bank's stamp. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Bank AlJazira

1. Sign in to the Bank AlJazira app.

2. Tap the menu icon (القائمة), then "Electronic documents" (الوثائق الإلكترونية).

3. Choose "Request an electronic document" (طلب وثيقة إلكترونية).

4. Choose "Bank certificate without balance" (شهادة بنكية بدون رصيد).

5. Choose English as the document language, then tap "Continue" (متابعة).

6. The certificate opens. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Bank Albilad

1. Sign in to the Albilad Net app (البلاد نت).

2. Open your accounts (الحسابات الشخصية) and tap your current account (الحساب الجاري).

3. Tap the account number, then choose "Request a digital document" (طلب وثيقة رقمية).

4. Tap "Print IBAN certificate" (طباعة شهادة الآيبان).

5. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB)

1. Sign in to the Saudi Investment Bank app.

2. Tap "Services" (الخدمات).

3. Tap "Request letter/certificate" (طلب خطاب/شهادة).

4. For the letter type, choose "Customer identification certificate without balance" (شهادة تعريف بالعميل بدون رصيد).

5. Check that the beneficiary name is in English.

Upload the certificate

• Upload it to Bank Certificate on the Business details tab of your store information.

  

• When you add a new payout account during activation, upload it with the account. JPG, PNG and PDF files are accepted.

• To change your payout account later, upload the new account's certificate in Zid Payments settings.

Get a freelance certificate

A freelance certificate lets an individual in Saudi Arabia practice their activity legally. The official bodies require it to activate online payments for individuals, so you need it to accept mada, Visa and Apple Pay with Zid Payments and to receive payouts. It is free.

You get it from the government Freelance platform, on the specialized services track: you choose the professional field that matches your activity, such as marketing, design or sales, and the platform may ask for a qualification or other proof of your skill in that field. Review usually takes 24 to 48 hours.

Create your account on the Freelance platform

1. Go to the Freelance platform, enter your national ID number on the sign-in page and select verify (تحقق).

1. Confirm the sign-in in the Nafath app by choosing the number that the platform shows.

1. The first time you sign in, enter your name in English, your email and your mobile number, then select "Complete registration" (استكمال التسجيل).

1. Enter the codes sent to your mobile and your email, then select "OK" (موافق). Your account is created.

Issue the certificate

1. In your dashboard on the platform, select "Issue a new document" (أصدر وثيقة جديدة).

1. In the certificates guide (دليل الشهادات), find the certificate that matches what your store sells. The specialized services category (الخدمات التخصصية) lists professions such as graphic design and fashion design, and each card shows how long the certificate stays valid, such as 12 months. Select "Apply now" (تقدم الآن) on the one you need.

1. Answer the short questionnaire (استبيان العمل الحر): the nature of your freelance work and when you last practiced it. Then select "Next" (التالي).

1. Choose the category, activity and profession (الفئة، النشاط، المهنة) that match what your store sells. If you sell physical products and no activity matches, choose sales management and promotion (إدارة وتنشيط المبيعات). If you can't find your profession, select the link to contact the Freelance platform under the fields.

1. Under "Attach files" (إرفاق الملفات), attach at least two of these files, all in the field you chose:

   • A diploma or a higher qualification in the same field.

   • Accredited training certificates in the same field or a similar one.

   • Accredited professional licenses in the same field or a similar one.

   • Accredited certificates of practical experience in the same field.

   • Samples of your work in the same field, with proof that they are yours.

   The platform rejects a copy of your national ID, a copy of a commercial registration, personal photos, and any file that is unrelated to the field or doesn't belong to you. For sales management and promotion, attach a sales course or proof that you own your store: for example, a screenshot of your Zid dashboard with your store link added, in one file.

1. Select "Next" (التالي). Your request appears under your current documents as pending (قيد الانتظار), with the profession you chose. You can cancel it there while it waits for review.

The platform sends you a text message when it approves or rejects the request. Once approved, the certificate appears on your page on the platform. Download it and upload it to Freelance Certificate on the Business details tab.

The certificate's activity must match what you sell, and it must be valid when you apply. For example, a store that sells perfumes can use a perfume making or a sales management certificate.

Choose the right activity for your commercial registration

The official bodies require the activities on an establishment's or a company's commercial registration to match what its online store sells, so every kind of product you sell needs an activity on the registration. A store that sells clothes and perfumes, for example, needs a fashion activity and a perfume activity.

To find the activity name, use the guided search of business activities on the Saudi Business Center, the Ministry of Commerce's platform.

1. Choose the establishment activities tab (أنشطة المؤسسات) or the company activities tab (أنشطة الشركات), to match your registration.

1. Search for a word that describes your products, such as "perfumes" (عطور). The results show every related activity under its different names.

2. Read the results in three columns: the main activity (النشاط الرئيسي), its purposes (أغراض), and the registration activities (أنشطة السجل). The first column is the general field, the second is the specific field, and the registration activities column lists the activities you add to your commercial registration, each with its code.

1. Copy the name of the registration activity that fits your store. You search for this name in your registration's activities after you sign in to your establishment's account, as the next section shows.

When you choose:

• Pick the activity that matches how you sell: retail, wholesale or manufacturing. A store that only sells perfumes at retail chooses the retail sale of perfumes.

• An activity that needs a license from the relevant authority shows "License required" (مطلوب ترخيص) under it in the search results. Activities that start with manufacturing usually do, as the Ministry of Commerce directs, and the licensing authority appears when you add the activity.

• Choose manufacturing only if you make the products yourself and sell them. Otherwise choose retail, so you aren't asked for a manufacturing license.

Add an activity to your commercial registration

If your store sells products outside the activities on your commercial registration, add the missing activity before you apply. When Zid rejects an application because the activity doesn't match, the rejection alert on the Payments page names the activity to add: copy it and follow these steps.

You add activities through the Saudi Business Center, the Ministry of Commerce's platform, and the ministry charges a small fee.

1. Go to the Ministry of Commerce website and sign in, directly or with Nafath. Then select "Commercial registrations" (السجلات التجارية).

1. Sign in to the Saudi Business Center. Citizens and residents sign in with the national single sign-on (Nafath); investors without a Saudi ID or residence permit sign in with their email and password.

1. On the registration you want to change, open "Record actions" (إجراءات السجل) and choose "Amend commercial registration" (تعديل السجل التجاري). The same menu has "Renew commercial registration" (تجديد السجل التجاري) if your registration is close to expiry.

1. Agree to the terms of use (أوافق على شروط استخدام الخدمة), then select "Start request" (بدء تقديم الطلب).

1. Next to "Business activity" (النشاط التجاري), select "Edit" (تعديل).

1. Type the activity name you found in the activities search field (البحث في الأنشطة التجارية).

1. Pick the activity from the results.

1. The new activity appears under "Selected activities" (الأنشطة المختارة), next to your existing ones. Select "Save" (حفظ).

1. Select "Request summary" (ملخص الطلب), review it, then submit the request (تقديم الطلب).

1. The payment page opens. Once you pay the fee, the activity is added to your registration automatically.

Upload the updated commercial registration on the Business details tab, then apply or resubmit your request.

Get your national address certificate

The national address certificate (national address proof) comes from Saudi Post's National Address service (SPL).

1. Sign in to the National Address service on the SPL website or app. Individuals sign in with their own account, and a business signs in to the account its address is registered under.

2. Check that your address is registered and up to date.

3. Download or print the national address proof.

The certificate must be in the name of the ID holder for an individual, or match the commercial registration or license for a business, and every detail must be clear. Upload it on the Business address tab of your store information; Preview in the tab's alert shows an example of the file. See Store information.

Charities and nonprofits

Zid supports charities with Zid Payments, so donors can give online. A charity applies from Payments in the sidebar, with Activate online payments, like any store.

Prepare these documents:

Check that every document is complete, correct and in good quality.

Once Zid Payments is active and you have chosen the payment networks, your charity can accept donations right away. The donations reach the association's bank account after Zid's team approves its documents:

• If every document is complete, Zid approves the account, and payouts follow on the regular payout days (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday), starting with the first payout day after approval. For example, an account approved on a Monday gets its first payout on Tuesday.

• If a document is missing or wrong, Zid's team rejects the approval and tells the association, so it can upload the correct documents for another review.
